Perspective: Asmara (6-Year-Old CEO)

Hi! My name is Asmara. I am six years old. I am in the first grade. I go to a school called Nova Classical Academy. I love my school. But I also love my job. I am a CEO! A CEO is a big boss. I run a business. My business is called Asmara’s Snacks & Other Things.

Being a kid boss is very fun. It is hard work too. I want to tell you my secrets. I want to tell you how I started. You can be a boss too!

How I Got Started

I have always liked to help. I started at a place called Elsa's House of Sleep. I would say hi to the kids there. I made them feel happy. It felt good to help people.

Then I joined the Girl Scouts. I sold cookies with my troop. We had big boxes of cookies. I learned how to talk to people. I learned how to say, "Would you like some cookies?" People said yes! This made me very happy.

I also made a lemonade stand. My dad helped me. We built it together. We used wood and paint. I sold cold lemonade. It was a hot day. Everyone was thirsty. I learned that people like snacks when they are out.

My Big Vending Machine Business

Now I have my own vending machines. They are big and bright. They have chips and juice. They also have beauty things! I have a beauty bar vending machine. It helps girls feel pretty. I want every girl to feel special.

I had to find a place for my machines. I looked for big buildings. I looked for places where people are hungry. Now my machines are in good spots. I was also very happy to win Little Miss Juneteenth 2026. That made me feel proud. It shows I can shine in my business and in my community. My Great Team

I do not work alone. Every boss needs a team. My mom is my best helper. Her name is Nneka. I named her my Business Advisor. She is also my Director of Operations. She knows a lot about money. She helps me make good choices.

I also have AI employees! AI is like a smart computer. My AI friends help me run the business. They work while I am at school. When I am learning to read and write at Nova, they are checking my machines. This is a very smart way to work.

Why I Like Having a Business

I have big goals. I want to save money. I want to put money in my IRA. An IRA is for when I am old. I also want to buy my own snacks. I love snacks!

The best part is my summer plan. I want to travel. I want to go to Florida! I love the sun and the beach. My business helps me pay for my trips. It is cool to earn my own money. You can read more about my summer vending plan here.

Secrets for Other Kids

1. Pick something you love. I love snacks and feeling pretty. So I sell those things!

2. Ask for help. My mom and dad help me a lot. My dad even helped with my lemonade stand.

3. Be kind. Smile at your customers. Say thank you.

4. Use tools. Use computers and AI to help you.

5. Have fun! If you are happy, your business will be happy too.

Starting a business as a kid is the best. I get to learn and grow. I get to help people. And I get to go to Florida! I am also proud to be Little Miss Juneteenth 2026.
